Louise Johnson's boat first into Azores in Millennium Round the World Race

CSC member Louise Johnson has been sailing in the Millennium Round the World Race, having been selected to join the crew of Spirit of Isis, one of the 10 Farr Millennium 65 yachts.

Louise, 19, is one of a crew of 15 on the last phase of the race, comprising two legs, from Recife in Brazil to the Azores and from the Azores to Portsmouth.

The following email has just been received from her father, Tony Johnson:

       

"anne and i saw louise leave recife harbour in brazil
on a very wet afternoon 8.08.00 and followed the boats
to the start line one mile off shore and saw them
disappear in the mist and night sky at 5.00p.m. brazil
time.Her boat spirit of isis was first across the
finishing line in the azores in the early hours of
friday morning 25.08.00. the boats left the azores on
sunday 3.09.00 for gurnsey.they are due back in
portsmouth on 16.09.00 you can follow the daily
progress on the internet-millennium-rtw.co.uk tony johnson."
