William Winter & Rachel Cole have been selected to represent the UK in Mirror Class World Championships in Canada in August1997. Countries to be represented in the championships include Canada, Usa, Uk, Ireland, Sweden, Holland, South Africa, Australia.

The World Championships will take place in Kingston, at the north-east corner of Lake Ontario. They may find the lake a little wider (some 40 miles) than the Cam at Clayhithe!

Although juniors, they are used to sailing against (and beating) good adult competition. Their selection follows their outstanding success against adults in the Mirror Eastern Area Traveller's Trophy during the 1996 season. They have also done well in the Cambs Youth Sailing League.

As well as getting themselves to Canada, William and Rachel need to take their Mirror dinghy as well!

While Mirrors are among the most versatile of boats, they aren't up to sailing the Atlantic, and a Mirror weighs rather more than the 20Kg most airlines allow passengers.

William and Rachel are hoping to attract some financial support from sponsors in order to help out with the financial burden.
