Centenary celebration dates announced

The CSC Centenary Committee has fixed the dates for the various functions that will be part of celebrating our centenary. The details are still being worked on, but here are the dates and the currently planned outline for the events. Members are asked to put the dates in their diaries. Please help us get 100 boats on the water on Saturday, 3 July 1999.

5 March (Fri)

8.00 pm

Cambridge Motorboat Club

100 Years of Sailing on the Cam (at the time we usually have the Spring Get-together) or how the efforts of our predecessors have led our club to be the way it is today.

A presentation of some of the more interesting parts of our past 100 years, where the names of our races come from, and so on, with photos and mini-exhibition of memorabilia.

25 May (Tue)

Time to be announced

Cam Sailing Club

100 Years to the Day - wine & cheese evening on the exact anniversary of the founding of the club - a reaffirmation of the aspirations of the founding members.

All members present will be invited to sign a document to be kept in the club archives and will receive an engraved wine glass.

3/4 July (Sat/Sun)

Celebration Weekend

Saturday afternoon

100 Boats on the Water and formal sail-past; certificates for those taking part; nautical games & other competitions; exhibition of photos, video, memorabilia etc; cream teas; Newmarket Silver Band

Saturday evening

Celebration Party with hog roast (vegetarian alternative), jazz band, etc, etc.

Sunday

Centenary regatta with sailing and other events both serious and light-hearted, possibly including novetly races; continuation of exhibition etc. Full details later.

17 December (Fri)

6.45 for 7.15 pm

Chilford Hall, Linton

The Centenary Ball will replace the usual laying-up supper, so it will include the end-of-season prize giving.
