Members' Email Newsletter No 7, November 2002
Members can now receive information, such as the newsletter below, by email. The newsletters appear here on the website about one month later. The email versions of newsletters may contain extra information that's for members only.
To receive the email version, send a two-word email ("subscribe camsail") to the mailing list. I can't give the mailing list address to send it to here or the address will be picked up by the computers that trawl the web looking for email addresses as targets for junk emails. The email address is given on a board in the clubhouse and was circulated in the CSC News circulated by snail mail with this year's membership fee bill.

5 No news from RYA Communications Awards
----------------------------------------
It's unusual to have an item headed "no news" in a newsletter! But I
think that, as we have heard nothing about our entries for the RYA
Communication Awards 2002, we probably haven't made it through the
regional round, which was being judged during October. We submitted
entries in two classes, Club Website of the Year and Club Newsletter
of the Year.
We were earlier having a website than most clubs, as it was
originally created very nearly 6 years ago, but other clubs have
caught up and some are now rather more professional-looking than
ours, which is still based on its original form.
We also submitted our two newsletters; CSC News (used to be Sailing
Secretary's Newsletter) is compiled by Rodney Bryant and is sent out
in the spring with subscription bills; the first of issue of this
monthly CSC E-Newsletter started in May this year. Rodney's
newsletter may not be regular enough to qualify and the e-newsletter
is text-only in order to be compatible with all e-mail client
software. Some clubs apparently have regular printed newsletters and
some will certainly contain graphics and appear more exciting than
this!
6 Repaired sail shed now in use
-------------------------------
The repaired sail shed is now in use with a secure lock (the
combination remains the same). Laser and Topper masts and sails have
already been moved back from the end shed (end nearer the clubhouse).
If you haven't moved your sails back, please do so.
7 Legacy of £1,000
------------------
The late Dennis Heath, who died earlier in the year, has left the
club a legacy of 1,000. The committee will decide a suitable way to
spend this legacy so that Dennis Heath may be remembered.
8 CSC members complete the course without a boat!

Engineers Half-Marathon at Waterbeach on the 20th October.

...AND thanks to all the sponsors.
