Thursday Dinners |
A warm welcome to past and present members. The Thursday Dining Club has met almost every week for about ten years: we take turns (based on the scoring system) to host dinner for other members of the group - all based around Cambridge.
Now, once a month, we move the meal from its usual Thursday evening to Sunday lunchtime.
Regulars:
Phil and Karen, Matthew and Elizabeth, Jon and Jo, Howard, Peter and Domnica,
Gill and Ron, Richard and Wendy (see list of dietary
requirements)
Other occasional members:
Anne,
Chris, David, Duncan
The Christmas Meal
In 1997 it proved impossible to find a date that suited everyone, so it was suggested that we fix the date as being whichever Friday falls within 15 to 21 December, so people have plenty of notice - although this year (2004) we're considering Sunday 19th.
Rather Tedious Explanation of Scoring System
Overall score is the number of meals cooked by a person or couple minus the number eaten. The total overall score should always add up to zero, in accordance with the principle of conservation of dinner. When guests are invited, points are charged to the Guest account. Every so often, these guest points are distributed to all current members of the dining club.
Individual score is the score per person, which is used to decide whose turn it is to cook next. This is so that when guest points are distributed, this doesn't change the order that people are due to cook in (think about it).
