Fardijah FreedmanI was opened in Subud at age 19, and having so amazingly been given the "pearl of great price", have stayed in Subud ever since. My "explicitly Subud" activities are: group latihan twice a week in Cambridge and once a month in Bury St Edmunds (with an isolated 89-yr-old member) plus the various things it falls to helpers to do. I am variably careful and lax about: doing latihan on my own at home, fasting on Mondays & Thursdays, and, most vitally, being really quiet before doing anything important. I'm uneasily aware that often God hasn't "got through" to me because I haven't been "listening". Other than this, my life is pretty full, with extended family and work. I am Latif's widow, my dear old mother is 85, and I am deeply grateful that both my children are in Subud, and married to Subud members. There are 2 grandsons, and I'm aware that it is important that I, as an older person, should try to keep close to the latihan, to try and lessen the spiritual burden upon these new generations. Funny to think of being an ancestor! Work - I'm a musician, and I teach the piano, accompany instrumentalists, do a little solo work, and play the bass in an orchestra. Whether my being in Subud benefits the people I work with I don't know - one would have to ask them - it certainly benefits me! So here I am, a "bogstandard" Subud member!
Ralph NimmannHumour is an important quality in all aspects of life. Apart from having been the chairman of Subud Cambridge for some time, I am a Quaker and was chairing the Cambridge Inter-Faith Group for several years. I like bringing people together and to provide and share information, especially about the spiritual side of life. I have a radio show "Ralph's Positive Hour" on the Cambridge community radio '209radio' since 2004. My main hobby are the sacred "Dances of Universal Peace", which I teach in Cambridge, around the region and in Latvia.I am the one to blame for the basic concept of this web page. My life is rather colourful - or chaotic; but isn't chaos just a higher level of order? The other Subud members kindly tolerate all my activities. You are welcome to visit my Rainbow Network Cambridge on the Internet, which has developed into a kind of local cyber space institution for spiritual seekers. Call me on 01223 510 442 for a chat or contact me by e-mail. If you meet me, be warned: if you come too close, I might hug you!
Wendy JillyHello, Subud members, just to let you know a little bit about me. I have been in Subud for about 20 years. More recently, in the last 8 years, I started getting interested in healing, and again learnt from various teachers and groups before eventually this year becoming a full member of the National Federation of Spiritual Healers. The healing I practise is mainly off the body, and works to balance the main energy centres and allow blocks to be released - I merely act as a channel for this to happen. I now practise healing at peoples' homes and at the Natural Therapy Centre in King's Lynn where I work part-time as a Medical Herbalist, and I also offer individual and group relaxation sessions.I feel there is no contradiction in my healing practises and the latihan - they all lead me back to the One. I have also completed two years' of counselling courses and am hoping to start a diploma course in humanistic counselling in September. Apart from that, I have been practising martial arts for several years and this keeps me focused, fit, and well grounded! See also personal experiences of Subud Cambridge Group members. |
