Two CSC members represented their universities in the British Universities Sailing Association National Team Racing Championships 1999, getting through the qualifying rounds to the finals hosted by Oxford University at their home waters, Farmoor Reservoir. The standard is very high and it's an achievement just to get into the teams. The finals took place from 30 March to 1 April.

Julia Axcell won a place in the highly competitive Bristol University's women's team for the championships. The team of six not only reached the finals at Oxford, but won the final match against Southampton University to become women's team champions 1999!

Jonathan Cole was the other CSC member representing his university (Leeds) in the BUSA finals. His success was soon followed by other members of his family, first Rachel in the Mirror World Championships in South Africa, 6-11 April, and then both Rachel and Anna in the Cambs Youth Sailing League home leg, 17 April.
