In the first of four legs of the Cambs Youth Sailing League 1999, William Winter and Rachel Cole sailed an Enterprise as their Mirror takes time to arrive back from the Mirror World Championships in South Africa. This didn't stop them winning the event, the best of three races, and leading the CSC to an impressive leading position to go into the second leg at Ely on 17 July. It was a good day for the Coles, with Anna Cole crewing the Graduate helmed by Louise Johnson and only being beaten by William and Rachel.

Other CSC prize winners were:

• Dale Winter and Andrew Davies (winners of under 15 age group, Mirror)
• Edward Lachan-Cope (third placed under 15, Optimist)
• Lawrence Mansfield (winner under 12, Optimist)
• Oliver Tweddell (second under 12, Optimist, and at 8 the youngest competitor)
• Neil Howett (third under 12, Optimist).
