Preface to 2005 web edition
This history of the CSC was originally compiled in book form by Rodney Bryant for the club’s centenary in 1999. Rodney has kindly supplied me with the text and illustrations so that I can make it available on the club’s website. Below is the original introduction Rodney wrote for the book version.

Introduction to original 1999 edition
This record of the first hundred years of the Cam Sailing Club is based on information contained in the Minutes of Committee and General Meetings of the Club.. It is to the credit of past Hon. Secretaries that so much material has been preserved over so many years.
Written records cannot tell everything about the Club and I am grateful to many members of long standing for useful discussions and for the provision of photographs and other memorabilia. These include Mr and Mrs Charles Lait, Mrs. Ruth Macfarlane and Mr and Mrs Jack Roper. Many extremely interesting photographs have been kept in the Commodore’s album, and I am grateful to the Commodore for the loan of this.
My particular thanks go to Betty Wolfe, for many useful discussions. Her written account of her memories of the Club from 1916 onwards has been invaluable. With her permission I have included some of her original material in this publication.
The account of the 1930s has been greatly enhanced by assistance and photographs from John Winter whose International 14' sailing exploits are well known to many.
My thanks go to my wife Marion for her support and interest in researching this project, and particularly for her help in the design of this booklet and proof reading.
I hope that the booklet will give you a good insight into the Club’s history and provide a record of the activities and achievements which otherwise might have been forgotten.
