every Tuesday: 15-minute prayer for peace vigil, 5:30pm
The CAMBRIDGE Justice and Peace Group (East Anglia or London/Southeast regions) holds a 15-minute prayer for peace vigil. All welcome - from all faiths. Contact: Tim Burton - angerhale@aol.com
VENUE: Our Lady and English Martyrs Church (corner of Hills Road and Lensfield Road), Cambridge.
Every Saturday peace vigil on the Cambridge Market Place, 12 - 1:30pm
Tthe Cambridge Campaign for Peace (CamPeace www.campeace.org.uk/) has a weekly peace vigil. Contact: 01954 719 644 - janet@campeace.fsnet.co.uk. We hope our numbers will grow!
VENUE: in front of the Guild Hall, Cambridge Market Place from 12 noon to 1:30pm.
EVERY 1st and 3rd Thursday: CamPeace meeting, 7:30pm

We invite all women to stand with us. After the vigil we will go to a caf=E9 for an informal planning meeting.

Saturday 20 Apr '02: Silent Peace Vigil by the Quakers, 11am - 12noon

This quiet peace vigil is every 3rd Saturday of each month.

I heard that in some schools English children stopped playing with their Islamic mates in this growing climate of predjudices. In order to avoid that all Islamic citizens are looked at as potential terrorists in our city we should show clear signs of support and solidarity. One symbolic action was the Inter-Faith solidarity visit to the evening prayer in the Cambridge Mosque on Sept 21st (see programme Cambridge Inter-Faith Group). More ideas:

Why not use the Arabic greeting "As Salaam Aleikum" (peace be with you) in the public?
The reply is: "Waleikum As Salaam" (with you be peace).
As a woman you can wear a head scarf in the public to show your solidarity

You are warmly welcome to visit the Abu Bakr Siddiq Islamic Centre (mosque) in 1 Mawson Road / Mill Road, Cambridge CB1 2DZ for any of the 5 daily prayers. Please take your shoes off - women need to cover their hair.

Every following day the morning prayers start 2 minutes later - noon time the same - after noon 2minutes earlier every day.
Prayer times 1st November: 5:25am - 6:56am - 11:44noon - 2:11pm - 4:33pm - 6:03pm
