Taizé harmony chanting has become popular in many places. It has spread far beyond the domain of Christian groups. Taizé songs are popular in workshops, around camp fires and during voice camps.
This page gives an overview about possibilities to join and experience the magic of Taizé harmonies in around Cambridge. I envisage, that one day we will have Taizé Worship / singing every week of the month in Cambridge, and the enthusiastic Taizé fans from various congregations will visit each other and sing together. Taizé harmony chanting around Cambridge
Sorry: since Ralph has moved to Hebden Bridge in West Yorkshire this group is not running any more.
2nd and 4th Sunday / month 9:30am: Taizé harmony chants and Cantiones Sacrae, usually led by Ralph (usually).
Sunday morning at Quakers: we just sing (no prayer or Bible readings - and we leave the silence for afterwards). Each voice is introduced and taught before we sing. A good chance to learn the different harmonies! If you want to learn a specific chant, please contact Ralph before. Complete beginners are welcome. Everyone who thinks, they cannot sing: don't worry, you are not alone.
Venue: children's room, Friend's Meeting House, 91 Hartington Grove - free of charge. You are very welcome to stay with some of us for the Quaker Meeting (worship in silence) at 10:30.
Taizé chants and rounds are simple and create this special magic which sometimes sends shivers down the spine. The harmonies can resonate with the soul and uplift the spirit. The texts are short and usually consist of very few Latin (a sacred language) words or a phrase in English.
