Engaging Communities - The Faith Communities of Cambridge

Ariadne Henry speaks about some research she has undertaken on behalf of the City Council. This piece of work emerged out of the needs of the minority faith and ethnic groups in Cambridge. While the work was concentrated around the needs of these communities, the City Council also wanted to look at the types of work done by the established and mainstream churches and at the interfaith work currently being done in the city.
Several on-going pieces of work have resulted from the research, including the Civic event which is taking place in October for which the Community Development Section has provided some funding.
Ariadne will speak about some of the issues which emerged from the research and some of the proposals and plans for the future development of the work around faith communities. This will be followed by discussion.

Annual General Meeting

with an open discussion on how best to represent both majority and minority faiths in public events in Cambridge. Given that by far the majority of 'people of faith' in the city are Christian, how can their numerical weight be both acknowledged and affirmed whilst allowing much smaller faith groups to be heard and listened to?
