Pymoor - Old Farm, Main Street

[Photo: Wadlow's Farm (since demolished) at southern end of Main Street]

These buildings, known by some as Wadlow's Farm, used to stand on the eastern side of Main Street at the southern entrance to the village.  It was pulled down in about 1992.  The last occupant was Con Harrison.  None of the buildings seen here still exist.  The site stood derelict for about five years.  It changed owners and then work started on a new bugalow, workshop and stables which still continues.

In the area at the extreme left of the picture, where there is a crop planted in clear rows, there now stands a bungalow.  One of the early occupants was John Knight.  It was probably built in the early 1980s, so the photograph could have been taken in the late 1970s.

A possible clue to its date is the lamp post by the road side.  This appears to be the one still in place, which is made of metal.  Most posts on Main Street are older and made of concrete.

The trees you can see between the corrugated iron garage in the centre of the picture and the white roofed barn at the top left are the sames ones that are visible at the extreme left of the picture of Main Street on the Photo Index page.

If you can give further information about the subject of this photograph, please let me know.

Apologies for the colour of this shot.  I haven't had a chance to correct the obvious failings in an old photograph exposed to daylight for too long.
