TWO THINGS YOU CAN DO
1. Wadlow Farm, West Wratting Planning Appeal
Following the rejection, in June 2007, by South Cambridgeshire District Council of a
planning application by Renewable Energy Systems (RES) to build a wind farm at Wadlow Farm,
South Cambridgeshire an appeal was lodged by RES.
As a result, there is now to be a Public Inquiry to determine the final outcome.
The Public Inquiry is taking place on 9th June onwards and will take approximately 2 weeks, excluding Mondays and weekends, with
a site visit by the Inspector on Monday 8th June.
The Inspector has made it clear that he is keen to hear from as many people who use and enjoy
the area as possible, so as to get a wide a cross section of views amd opinions - walkers, ramblers,
botanists, dog walkers, horse riders, photographers, kite flyers (!) - anyone at all.
We know that support for wind farm developments is often much less vociferous than the opposition,
but here's your chance to show your support for a truly sustainable future and make your voice heard at the
inquiry, either by commenting on the planning appeal directly (see below) or, better yet....
Come along to the start of the enquiry on the 9th of June to get the message across to the Planning Inspector that Cambridgeshire wants renewable energy.
Please contact us (camfoe@telinco.co.uk)
if you wish to know more or offer support.

Note: In spite of the website stating here that
the deadline for commenting on this case is the 18th Janaury, they still seem to be accepting submissions.

2. Support The Proposed Linton Windfarm
Plans now available on line.
A planning application by Enertrag UK Ltd for eight 125m wind turbines on the ridge overlooking Linton has now
been submitted.
It is urgent you send letters of support for this plan now.
This scheme overlaps the District Council and County Council borders with 7 turbines in South Cambridgeshire
and 1 in Uttlesford, so there will be two separate planning applications,
but even if you live in the neighbouring District you can still show your support for the
planning application in the other District.

What can we do?
We can assume that the local press will soon be bombarded by anti-wind power letters and that South Cambridgeshire and Uttlesford District Councils, both responsible for the Linton wind farm planning application, are receiving as many letters against the wind farm as well.
We need to put the other side of the argument across NOW.
It’s therefore vital that we write as many letters as possible in support of the wind farm application to South Cambridgeshire District Council and Uttlesford District Council (details below) by <<6 weeks from 6th March>>, the deadline for public consultation.
Send letters and emails in support of Linton planning application to:

If you're really, really keen you could try the local MEPs
There are seven MEPs representing the Eastern Region of England:
Mr Geoffrey Van Orden (C) geoffrey.vanorden@europarl.europa.eu
Mr Jeffrey Titford (UKIP) jtitford@ukip.org
Mr Richard Howitt (Lab) richard.howitt@geo2.poptel.org.uk
Mr Robert Sturdy (C) robert.sturdy@europarl.europa.eu
Mr Andrew Duff (Lib Dem) mep@andrewduffmep.org
Mr Christopher Beazley (C) christopher.beazley@europarl.europa.eu
Mr Tom Wise (UKIP) tomw@tomwisemep.co.uk
They do not have specific geographic responsibilities so you can write/email/phone to all, some, or just one of them.
The website www.writetothem.com, also provides the facility to contact them, just type your postcode in and you'll be able to write to email or phone any/all of them, however three of the MEPs have offices in Cambridge, - Richard Howitt (Lab), Robert Sturdy (C) and Andrew Duff (Lib Dem) and therefore may have some idea of what you're talking about.
Also, don't forget, letters to the local press are also very important to put the other side of the argument across to the general public. Don’t let ignorance leave Cambridgeshire in the fossil fuel age.
