Sept. '08:
209radio is currently is dire need of funding and, unless an amount equal to or greater than £25,000 is raised by the end of September, this service will have to close.
We have been unable, so far, to secure adequate core funding and are also unable by law to generate our own on-air advertising and sponsorship revenue due to a clause in the Community Radio licence for Cambridge. This situation will be reviewed by our regulator, Ofcom, on the 15th September but we still require urgent fundraising now, nevertheless. 209 has been providing training and broadcast opportunities to the people of Cambridge for the past 5 years and have always done so in a difficult funding environment but now we really have come to a sticking point. We exist to provide opportunities for a very wide range of people, may of whom are taking great personal and developmental benefit from their work with us but who are also unable to give financial input.
If you are in a position to donate money to this charity and help us continue our work, please either use our justgiving account which can be found here: www.justgiving.com/209radio
Please, Cambridge, help us steer out of these difficult waters and continue to enrich the local airwaves! |
