Sicy RMX - (Trouble On Vinyl)
Another track from the Trouble On Vinyl album. This is it for me. It’s got it all. Fonkky bass line that is as cool as..

DAVID HOLMES - MY MATE PAUL - GO DISCS
a) If you bought this one the first time round, pat yourself on the back and tell people in pubs that you’re a year ahead of your time. b) Even if you didn’t, here’s your chance. It’s hip hop, jazzy, bass driven music of the highest order and has now been remixed by Major Force and we all know what that means! (Do we?) Put your hand in your pocket either way and you have not been robbed.

HOWIE B - TAKE YOUR PARTNER BY THE HAND - POLYDOR
Talking of hands here we have Howie B’s ‘Take your Partner By The Hand’ which has Robbie Robertson drawling Eels-like (Eels the band that, is not long slimy fish that no-one wants to catch because they always swallow the hook and wriggle around too much) over Howie’s bedroom hip hop sounds. One of us here thinks it sounds like that song from the ‘80’s called ‘Driving Away from Home’ by It’s Immaterial, and that means the other one of us here is calling the that first person ‘A Twat’! Fair enough.

THE JESUS AND MARYCHAIN - CRACKING UP - CREATION
The Jesus and Marychain appear to have been away so long that if a new, young band were to come along and sound exactly like them then they’d probably very easily get away with it. However we don’t need that to happen because The Jesus and Maychain have come along and sound EXACTLY like The Jesus and The Marychain. Same sounds, ideas, imagery, format. You can’t really go wrong if you’re a big fan, although I reckon they never ever matched ‘Never Understand’ all those years ago, and quite frankly got very predictable. But having said all that, I like it. Doesn’t fit in with all the present Indie/New Wave trends which is a bonus, and I’m glad to have them back on the radio - if anyone’s playing it that is. Four tracks, one poppy, one a ballad, two weirder - what you’d expect, but strangely refreshing.
