JDS : DESTINATION LONDON TOWN - JIVE
An equally quality follow up to ‘9 Ways’, ‘D.L.T.’ is in the same vein but has more scammin’ breakbeats and an original hooky vocal repeating the title name.
Already number one in Nick Warren’s chart and causing some mayhem off of five test presses, (which I have been lucky enough to get one of) London FFRR have crazily turned down this follow up so Jive become the main benefactors.
With numerous projects well on the way JDS are sure to earn someone a lot of money, maybe Pete Tong doesn’t need anymore.
10/10
DJ STEW : FUNKY FRESH - HENRY STREET
A large US production on the breakbeat tip was always in the making. DJ Stew has fused the US sound with big beat and a fat sample from Armand’s ‘Funk Phenomena’. The result is quite simply explosive, and hence the track being hammered by every man, woman and dog.
The vocal sample repeating ‘Funky Fresh’ is very simple yet amazingly catchy and is sure to be on the lips of loads of clubbers after sweaty nights out across the country. This track has no boundaries and is sure to be in most DJ’s boxes.
10/10
ANDY LING : ANUNA - FLUID
Following up from ‘Calling Angels’ was always going to be difficult hence the amount of time in-between releases. Co-produced with Evolution who own the label, there is no doubt that this is another classic.
A crisp drum set up is laden with Ling’s trademark drops and sweeps all as subtle as usual and equally masterful, building into the mother of all breaks with a sweet riff that is sure to get those hairs standing on end.
All of Ling’s production techniques are extremely effective and have a unique sound, together with Evolution this is a production of double large proportions that will not disappoint.
