Fresh off the press we have the latest line up of live acts down at The Boat Race for April. Here are some of the highlights from The Boat Race press pack showing another packed and eclectic line-up.
Thursday 2nd April –
Cardiff Nil/Money Spoils it. Cardiff Nil, named after a famous (and recurring) football result, can strip pine at fifty paces. Money Spoils It play ‘90’s heavy rocked and wowed The Boat race on their last visit.
Saturday 4th April –
Maker/Thea Gilmore. Quality night with a big Clap recommendation. Maker are causing a stir and launch their new EP, ‘O Felix Culpa’ including the tracks, ‘Say it’, ‘Believe Me’, the title track, ‘O Felix Culpa’ and ‘Till Tomorrow’. Maker have been becoming so popular they’ve found themselves residents at The Boat Race, and support on this night comes from Thea Gilmore, a young ‘folk-rockish’ singer songwriter, who is heading for big things. Check out the article on Thea on page 7, or better still, get down there!
Monday 6th April –
The Plants/Daze. The Plants (formerly The Wishplants) perform on the back of their new single ‘Today’ – electrifying guitar pop and ‘unpredictable charm’. Support comes from St.Neots all-girl band Daze, who recently put on a brilliant performance to walk their heat of The Cambridge Band Competition and could well be heading for victory this year after coming second last.
Saturday 11th April –
Colonel Hathi/Shine. Check out brilliant live indie ska act Colonel Hathi (have I spelt that right this time?) as they perform in aid of the Imperial Cancer Research Fund. Take some extra cash if you want in on their new album ‘Turned Out Nice Again’. They are supported by Shine who feature The Clap’s mate Gif from Marks Music.
Wednesday 15th April –
Glenn Tilbrook/Richard Ecclestone. The one and only Glenn Tilbrook, of Squeeze, or formerly of Squeeze, I’m not all that sure. But he’s selling out all over so book your tickets early.
Tuesday 21st April –
Other Garden/Atlantic. Local favourite folk-rockers Other Garden, who the Clap keeps meaning to get hold of are sure of another big night, especially as support comes from Atlantic, another act who recently impressed at The Cambridge Band Competition, and were even some people’s tips to win it outright.
Sunday 27th April –
Flook/Kerfuffle. Excellent Celtic music which has taken Cambridge by storm on many occasions. Kerfuffle are rising folk/Celtic stars.
