Location & access of the building
Postal address: Bharat Bhavan (previously known as "The Old Library"), Bharat Way, Mill Road, Cambridge, CB1 2AZ
Bharat Bhavan is a sacred space, sometimes functioning as Cambridge Hindu temple.
No alcohol or meat consumption in the building PLEASE. Please treat especially the altar area with respect.

A booking is confirmed, when the payment (cheques made out to the "ICCA") has reached the bookings officer. See booking details
Keys: by arrangement with Rajni Shah, Bharat Bhavan bookings officer.
Front door: Please unlock top and bottom lock with the same key and open door.
Light: 2 light switches are inside the entrance porch opposite the main red front door.
Heating: Please switch the heating on and off at red light bottom switch in the corridor corner left of the men's toilets. Fan heaters in the hall should be switched "ON" all the time - they will be blowing warm air once the system is warm (after 15 minutes).
After you switch the heating OFF, the fan heaters will keep blowing for a few minutes and then switch off automatically.
Fire Extinguishers are in the hall near the entrance, basement and in the kitchen area.
2 Central fuse boxes: (only in case of shortcuts or overload) are in the far corner, left of the heating in the basement.
The hall: Please keep the carpet clean.
The altar (left hand end of the hall) is a sacred space - please approach with respect.
Cooking: currently one powerful gas ring is working - gas needs to be switched on underneath.
Please be aware, that according to Vedic principals the kitchen is considered a sacred space, which needs to be kept pure and clean.
Always use the sieve in the sink! Please bring your own towels if you cook anbd have a lot to dry. Please put everything back to it's place.
A Fridge is available.
Cleaning utensils: a Hoover, washing up liquid, surface cleaning spray, wipes, black bin bags & hoover bags should be around.
Rubbish: please minimise your waste volume and bring full bin bags into the big rubbish container outside (towards the depot), which gets emptied only 1st Tuesday of the month. If you left food in the bins, please empty them before you go, replace with a new black bin bag (under kitchen sink). If you create lots of waste, please take some of it home.
PLEASE NOTE: the big blue rubbish container is secured with a key. Please check with the care taker that you know where the key in the building is - and lock the bin and put the key back to it's place.
RECYCLING: please bring cleaned glass jars, metal tins and drink cans, and plastic bottles to the RECYCLING DEPOT car park Gwydir Street / Mill Rd.
Tables & chairs chairs should be piled in max 8 along the entrance porch wall (=> use the chair mover!),
tables go vertically folded, legs against the wall.
On leaving the building: Please make sure the following are switched / turned off:
the heating! & all lights
Please lock the top AND bottom lock on the entrance door
