This is a map of the bumps course on the river cam. This is also the main stretch of river that crews train on, from Baitsbite Lock to the Pike and Eel pub. In training for the bumps the timed pieces that we do are mainly the first half of the bumps course, which is called a 'Grind' - from the Little Bridge to the Plough pub. The King's record, set last term, is 3:42 over this distance, although usually the time is between that and 4 minutes. We also do 'the course', which is from the Little Bridge to the Pike and Eel pub. For steady state pieces we also can go over the other side of Baitsbite Lock as the river is quite straightthere for about 15-20 minutes of steady state rowing. All the boathouses are towards town.
