The KCBC Book Project

The Boat Club and some of its alumni have commissioned a book about the history of KCBC. Envisaged as a hard-bound coffee-table volume with a dust cover, and spanning about 150-200 pages, the book will include over 50 photos and illustrations, a prose account of the Boat Club's history, a comprehensive index of past crews and photos held in the archives, as well as data on officers, bumps positions, Blues, Colours and internationals. The estimated price will be between £15 and £20, depending on demand, but definitely not exceeding the latter. The book will be researched and written in 1998 and 1999 for publication on 1 January 2000.

In order to promote the book project, the Boat Club would like to

• Encourage non-resident members to submit their rowing memorabilia, on loan or as a gift to the Boat Club Archives, so that the book may be as comprehensive as possible.
• The Club would also like to ascertain which alumni would be prepared to be interviewed about the rowing of their particular period in order to fill any gaps and give the book a more lively feel.
• You can also pre-oder your copy of the history now (everyone who does so will receive a 10% discount off the final sales price). Please do not send any money with your order - we will come back to you once the book is approaching publication.
• If you would like to support the project financially, please make your cheque payable to 'King's College (Boat Club)' and send it to the author (see below). All benefactors giving £50 or more will receive a free copy of the book.
