The Foreign Beer Bar

This is the fifth Foreign Bar at the Cambridge Beer Festival. There have been quite a few changes in the beer range this year and again we are having more draught beer than last year.

We're featuring Kolsch beers from Cologne in Germany: although these look like lagered beer and taste like them, they are in fact ale, being top-fermented. We're also featuring German Alt beers again. Hopefully both these styles will be available some of the week on draught!

There will be some old favourites such as Orval, Rochefort, Schnieder Weisse and Augustiner Helles, and some beers new to the bar which will be well-worth trying, in particular some new Dutch beers.

Hopefully, for the first time, some of the new De Cam Geuze and (although not seen for a while) some Westvleteren Trappist beer from the smallest Trappist brewery.

There'll be some Northern French beers and a couple of Czech beers.

Finally a small brewery called Brasserie Des Geants which I've been trying to get for the last two years should make an appearance!

We also have extra rules on the Foreign Bar

No drinking from the bottle.
- All beer will be poured into your glass.
- No glass, no service.
Bottles do not leave the bar opened.
- This is a safety measure designed to protect you, as well as the bottle costing us a deposit.
- Please do not ask to take an opened bottle away from the bar as a refusal often offends.
- You can take away unopened bottles, only if you are leaving the festival immediately after buying them.
- If you want some put by, then we will do this for you, and keep them for you until you leave.
- (Please note that there will be no takeaway service on Thursday and Friday evening.)

If you have any questions, and we are not busy, then please ask. The staff like talking about beer!

If you find some beers you like, you can get them in Cambridge. Just visit the Jug and Firkin (Bacchanalia) in Mill Road. If he doesn't have what you want in stock, he might be able to get it for you.
